What to expect

The process begins with a conversation, either by phone or email, to book an appointment at a time that suits you. During this initial call, we can discuss any aftercare options that may be appropriate for your family’s needs.

When I arrive at your home, your pet will be in a safe, familiar environment surrounded by loved ones. I’ll take time to introduce myself to both you and your pet and go over the procedure, answering any questions or concerns you may have. To help create a comforting atmosphere, I bring along treats and tasty pastes that many pets enjoy. This is a time for special treats—if your pet has favourites, please feel free to prepare anything they love. Once we’ve discussed the procedure and you’re comfortable with everything, I’ll obtain written consent to proceed.

With plenty of gentle attention, cuddles, and treats, I’ll administer a first injection to make your pet sleepy and relaxed, allowing for a peaceful process. Please know this initial injection may feel like a mild pinch, but it isn’t painful. If you’re uncomfortable with needles, let me know—I’m happy to ensure you’re at ease and can look away during this part.

When your pet is calm and resting, I’ll proceed with the final injection, allowing for a peaceful and pain-free passing. You are welcome to hold your pet or be present as they pass, but there’s no expectation—this is a personal choice, and there’s no “right” or “wrong” way.

While most procedures are calm and peaceful, please be aware that some pets may gasp, release urine or stool, or keep their eyes open after passing. These are natural physiological responses and nothing to be alarmed about. In certain cases, if a pet is experiencing cardiovascular challenges, venous access can be limited. If necessary, I may administer the final injection in an organ such as the kidney, liver, or heart, always with the pet under heavy sedation to ensure a gentle and peaceful experience.

It is my privilege to offer this compassionate service and help create a gentle, respectful farewell for your beloved pet in the comfort of their home.
